Bhasha told CNN in an interview: “I was invited to Africa, to Turkey, then to India, Pakistan and several other Asian countries to be an ambassador for various charity work.” Mukherjee was a junior doctor specializing in respiratory medicine before competing in beauty pageants. Mukherjee was originally born in Kolkata, India and moved to Derby, England with her family when she was 9-years-old.
The 24-year-old model and doctor had been in India for the last four weeks doing charity work for various schools and helping abandoned girls. However, as the coronavirus situation got worse in England, Mukherjee decided to contact her former place of work at Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, England when she started hearing more dire news from her former colleagues. “When I heard that I felt so guilty…I really wanted to back to work,” she told The Sun.
“I’m not belittling the work, the charity work that I was doing, but in a way, you know, this is what I’ve been trained to do, so I wanted to come back and do that,” Mukherjee continued.
