Man Wanted For Punching Asian Woman Several Times

April 29, 2020

According to Metro Vancouver Transit Police, a female Asian passenger on a train in Vancouver, British Columbia, between Waterfront station and Burrard station was approached by a man who had been staring at her profusely.

The woman asked the man if something was wrong and he started yelling: “You people are why my daughter is sick!” according to Global News

The man then grabbed the woman’s bag and punched her multiple times in the face while grabbing her hair and then slamming her head into the seats. As soon as the train stopped at Burrard station, the man grabbed the woman and pushed her off the train while taking her cell phone. The woman screamed for help and two Good Samaritans rushed in and managed to wrestle her bag away from the attacker.

The man then threw her phone against the wall—breaking it, stated the police. From an initial investigation, the man stayed on the train and got off at King George Station in Surrey, stated the police. The woman suffered substantial swelling to her face, a cut above her eye, and a bloody nose.

Authorities describe the suspect as a South Asian man, between 40 to 50 years old, between 5’5 to 5’7, medium build, and a salt and pepper beard. He was wearing a black jacket, green hoodie, and blue jeans.

Transit police are asking anyone with information to call them at 604-516-7419 or text using code 87-77-77 and refer to file 2020-8309.
