CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Maryland—A 59-year-old laundromat employee named Fu Tian Yan was stabbed to death by 17-year-old Mekhi Loving of Capitol Heights during an attempted robbery Thursday night, September 17, around 7:15 pm.
Officers arrived on the scene in the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road and found Fu Tian Yan of Upper Marlboro suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to CBS 13 Baltimore. Yan was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital.
Loving was arrested Thursday night and is being held without bond. From a preliminary investigation, authorities ascertained Loving stabbed Yan in order to steal money from the business.
According to WJLA, 17-year-old Loving will be charged as an adult with first-degree murder. He’s currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
