MOUNT DORA, Florida—Mount Dora police are searching for the person responsible for shooting and killing one of the owners of T&N Market on North Grandview Street and critically injuring another on Monday night, November 30.
Police responded to the scene around 8:50 pm and found a man and a woman, identified as the owners of the store, inside with gunshot wounds, according to WFTV9 ABC.
47-year-old Minh Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, 56-year-old Khiem Ba Trinh was airlifted to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. Investigators believe the shooting appears to be a random armed robbery.
Interim Police Chief Brett Meade said a person wearing all black is seen confronting one of the owners outside the store and then forcing him inside the store at gunpoint.
Police said they are looking for a male suspect, thin build, wearing all black and a black hoodie, according to WFTV9 ABC.
Police explained both store owners suffered from several gunshot wounds behind the register. Both individuals were pillars of the community for decades.
“This strikes at the heart of our community,” stated Police Chief Brett Meade.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Mount Dora police at 352-735-7130 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
Community leaders said a vigil for the couple is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday outside of the convenience store.
