LAKE COUNTY, Florida—The co-owner of T&N Market has succumbed to injuries sustained during an armed robbery Monday night, November 30, according to Click Orlando.
56-year old Khiem Ba Trinh and his partner, 47-year-old Minh Nguyen were closing up shop Monday night when they were shot several times. Nguyen was pronounced dead at the scene and Trinh was airlifted to Central Florida Regional Hospital, according to Mount Dora Interim Police Chief Brett Meade
Police now say the case has escalated into a double homicide. The shooter has still not been identified and there is currently a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
“I’ve never seen an outpouring of love and dedication and commitment,” Chief Meade said. “The city of Mount Dora is a beautiful place.”
Chief Meade continued to state the last few days people have expressed their shock and outrage with the viciousness of the crime. The community has come together to support the victims’ families and in doing so—has reaffirmed Meade’s faith in the community, according to Click Orlando.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
“Together in our community we can solve this crime, we can bring the perpetrator to justice and we can begin our healing process,” Meade stated.
Police and customers described Trinh and Nguyen as pillars of the community. A vigil was held on Tuesday and attended by dozens of people, reports Click Orlando.
