“Chesa, with all due respect, it feels as though you are deflecting just a little bit,” ABC 7 Dion Lim interjected as she interviewed San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. Lim’s interjection was caused when Boudin began blaming the San Francisco Police Department as well as Daly City for their “handling” of Troy McAlister.
45-year-old Troy McAlister is a “3 Strike” offender, which means he should have faced life in prison, however, District Attorney Chesa Boudin’s office felt African-American offenders should be given a substantial amount of chances to rehabilitate, rather than be sent to prison. They are the future of America, after all.
The series of events which eventually led to the deaths of 27-year-old Hanako Abe and 60-year-old Elizabeth Platt as they were crossing the street and were struck by a stolen car driven by McAlister, high on meth, as he fled from police after committing a burglary started two days earlier. McAlister met a woman he befriended on a dating app. He eventually ended up stealing her car as she ordered a hamburger.
“This was a violent felony,” San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Darwin said during the court hearing at the Hall of Justice. “There is clear and convincing evidence indicating that there would be serious bodily harm if he was released at this time.”
SFGate reported Chesa Boudin did not file charges against McAlister after being arrested on suspicion of car theft in November and December of 2020, way beyond his 3rd strike. Instead, Boudin referred the cases to state parole agents, stating, “We believed there was a greater likelihood of him being held accountable and having the kind of intervention that would protect the public and break this cycle of recidivism.”
On Monday, January 4, Boudin’s office finally filed multiple charges against McAlister including vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and felony possession of a firearm.
During an interview with ABC 7’s Dion Lim, Boudin tried redirecting blame on parole officers, San Francisco, and Daly City police departments. However, when Dion lambasted Boudin about his “redirection,” he quickly replied:
“We are not pointing the finger at parole, and I’m sorry if you misunderstood the statement that our spokesperson made,” he said. “This is not about blaming parole; this is about recognizing there are numerous law enforcement agencies and we all have to depend on each other to do the job properly.”

People aren’t buying it, including San Francisco Mayor London Breed who recently threw Chesa Boudin under the bus during an interview with Han Li.

Remember, this is the same Boudin who blamed anti-Asian attacks in San Francisco on “Trump supporters,” even though nearly all of them were perpetrated by African-Americans. Because you know, waves of African-American Trump supporters with Candace Owen hats attacking Asians on the streets of San Francisco is a realistic scenario.
