EAST HOLLYWOOD—LAPD is asking the public for help identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run that killed a 32-year-old pedestrian named Si Park.
The hit-and-run happened around 5:20 a.m. Saturday. The force of the collision threw the victim into a parked car, according to KTLA.
Paramedics responded to the scene and tried to save Park’s life but he succumbed to his injuries before being transported to the hospital.
“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD officials stated.
According to The Eastsider, the suspect’s vehicle, which was a black, 2-or-4-door sedan with tinted windows continued eastbound on Melrose before turning south on Vermont Ave.
The victim’s sister took to Instagram for help:
“I didn’t want to write this nor ask for help because my family and I have been mourning this tragic and heart breaking incident…As many of you know, my brother has been struggling for a very long time and this accident made our worst nightmare into a reality. Maybe one day I’ll find the words to express the extent of this painful sorrow, but for now I ask if anyone has any information regarding this event, CCTV or know of businesses near the scene of the crime to help provide any info/license plate of the car who did this, I will be immensely grateful.”
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the driver’s identification, arrest and conviction, according to the department.
Anyone with information is asked to contact LAPD Detective C. DeHesa at 213-833-3713 or e-mail him at [email protected]. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
